New Zealand’s premier zipline and native forest adventure

The experience

Embark on a journey of discovery on Waiheke Island, just 35 minutes from downtown Auckland, with the 3-hour EcoZip Adventure. After being picked up at the ferry terminal, enjoy a fully commentated ‘Waiheke Highlights’ tour showcasing what the Lonely Planet named ‘the playground of the gods’.

Once arriving at EcoZip HQ, which is located high on a hill with spectacular sea views to Auckland City, you’ll take to the skies on our unique giant ziplines. With dual cables each over 200m long, fly side-by-side with a friend in an unforgettable shared experience. Across 3 separate lines, you’ll zip high above a working vineyard and lush, ancient forest canopies, soaking up incredible views back to the city and beyond.

Jump on board our comfortable, air-conditioned shuttle for a 20-minute fully commentated ‘Waiheke Highlights’ tour of the island Lonely Planet called ‘the playground of the gods’ and NY Times declared a ‘must see’. You’ll see many of the island’s golden beaches, charming olive groves, world-class vineyards and multi-million-dollar properties, all en route to EcoZip HQ.

Our Giant Ziplines

  • Vineyard cruise

Our most shallow gradient, the first zipline of the experience is a gentle introduction to ziplining, and delivers the first of the spectacular views. Soar above a working vineyard that
is home to nearly 2,000 vines of Syrah. If you’re zipping alongside a friend, take advantage of our twin cables to
take photos of each other in-flight – with the background of Auckland’s skyline and islands in the background.

  • City View

The tempo increases as you zip higher and faster above a spectacular view of Auckland City. 200m long, you’ll fly through, then above, the ancient forest canopy – designated a site of environmental significance. Relax and enjoy the ride, or ‘do the bomb’ and race your fellow zipliner.

  • Kuri nui

The main event! Your guide will explain the significance of Kuri nui – a Maori word – before you take off from the deck, with awe-inspiring views of vineyards, beaches and the CBD ahead. At 220m and with the steepest gradient of all, you’ll zip along at a speed of over 50km (faster than you can legally drive on Waiheke’s roads!). Once you get to the landing deck, stand on the sheltered terrace and take photos of the rest of your group as they whistle in.

Descending from Kurinui’s landing deck, you’ll exchange your birds-eye forest view for the cool, sun-dappled forest floor – home to geckos and skinks, weta, eels and even glow-worms. The ancient trees are a treasure-trove of stories and legend. Your guides will share Maori myths, and explain how your visit helps EcoZip Adventures preserve and restore, not only this beautiful and important Site of Environmental Significance, but other extensive wetland restoration projects across Waiheke Island .

    Mike McVey Gisborne, NZ

  • Great staff, fun, also enjoyed the short bush walk back up the hill afterwards. Good emphasis on safety.

    whattosay Wanaka, NZ

  • We had the best time ever! The instructors were very friendly and made sure that we were all safe. The zip lines all had spectacular views. Overall it was amazing!!

    Grace E Paihia, NZ

  • We had not been on a zip wire before this trip. EcoZip staff were very welcoming and very professional. We were well prepared for the zip wires and our guides did a great job making sure we were all set before each run. The walk back to the centre with some information about the local flora and fauna was a great addition. We would thoroughly recommend EcoZip.

Loads of interest from Richie on our conservation work. Which Tim was happy to talk about
Bit of a special visitor recently; bearing an award; our Qualmark 100% Pure New Zealand trophy.
We’re back from Friday 3rd December - and we’re double vaxxed! We’re looking forward to welcoming you back to our little slice of island paradise
And another award, on top of the earlier 100% Pure NZ!
Managed to grab a shot of all but one of the team following a recent day dedicated to helping some local charities. Wonder if we can get one of everyone before the end of 2021!
After a year of closed borders and cancelled business events up and down the country, it was brilliant to host Aussie and Kiwi buyers in town for the Meetings 2021 trade show #meetings2021
So what do you do when you work on an island that’s described as ‘paradise’ and you want to take the whole EcoZip team away for a well deserved break? You head to Rotovegas!
How cool is this! The next generation of ‘tree huggers’ - and a pretty epic birthday party at EcoZip!
We did another photo shoot on Sunday, prepping for new website. Here’s a behind the scenes shot of our brilliant volunteer talent
