Step into Nature’s Outdoor Classroom!

Turn an adventure into a learning experience. EcoZip Adventures offers an award-winning zipline and eco-immersive forest experience on beautiful Waiheke Island – an inspiring setting to combine EOTC opportunities with real-world learning and plenty of fun. Whether your focus is conservation, science, business studies, tourism, history, physical education or team building, our programmes link easily to curriculum goals, and we can also co-design a visit tailored to your group’s specific learning outcomes.

We specialise in hosting educational groups from 10 to 180 participants. Let us help you create a learning day like no other, one your students, teachers and accompanying adults will remember long after returning to school.

“Ecozip Adventures unique environment on Waiheke Island provides beyond the scope of the normal academic curriculum, and irrespective of their background, gender, ethnicity an equal opportunity for students to learn more about themselves and the environment they live in by being exposed to an outdoor recreational activity that provides them with an experience that is fun, and expertly managed.”

Arrival & Welcome

Upon arriving on Waiheke Island, your group will be greeted by one of our professional driver-guides. During the short 15-minute trip to EcoZip HQ, they’ll introduce the island’s history, people and landscapes, highlighting why Waiheke is such a significant cultural and ecological treasure.

At EcoZip HQ, our friendly crew will guide your group through a smooth check-in process, final paperwork and weight confirmation. Your guides will then begin the safety briefing and assist with harnesses, helmets and lanyards. From this first stage, our team starts weaving your chosen learning themes into the experience. Each tour group of up to 12 students is accompanied by two highly trained guides, and each group requires one adult supervisor, who zips free of charge.

The Zipline Experience

Once everyone is geared up, it’s time to head to our custom-built, 9m x 9m take-off towers, impressive, elevated platforms that double as an outdoor classroom and provide expansive 360° views of Waiheke, Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf. From here, your students will fly across three giant dual ziplines, each stretching over 200 metres, creating an unforgettable shared experience.

Our twin-line design allows students to zip side-by-side with a friend or classmate, building confidence, teamwork and encouragement in a supportive environment.

Linking Adventure to Learning

As your group moves through the zipline and forest components of the experience, our guides will tailor their commentary to support your learning goals. Together, you’ll explore topics such as physics, biodiversity, land use, native flora and fauna, conservation, ecology, geography, tourism, history and more, bringing classroom concepts to life in a hands-on, real-world setting.

Please contact our groups coordinator on hellowaiheke@ecozip.co.nz to discuss your educational or EOTC needs and for details of our Safety Management System or simply download our Waiheke educational brochure for more details.

  • We had not been on a zip wire before this trip. EcoZip staff were very welcoming and very professional. We were well prepared for the zip wires and our guides did a great job making sure we were all set before each run. The walk back to the centre with some information about the local flora and fauna was a great addition. We would thoroughly recommend EcoZip.
