• GETTING TO KAIKŌURA

Getting to Kaikōura is easier than you think – and the journey is half the fun. From Christchurch, it’s only a scenic 2.5-hour drive through the picturesque Waipara Valley, one of New Zealand’s premier wine regions, before winding through the charming agricultural hub of Cheviot. Coming from the north? It’s also just 2.5 hours from Picton or a quick 2 hours from Blenheim, right in the heart of world-renowned Marlborough wine country.

Whichever route you take, keep your eyes peeled – both offer plenty of chances to stop and admire New Zealand Fur Seal colonies from easy-to-access viewing points along the coast.

Not keen to drive yourself? No problem. Kaikōura is well-connected with direct shuttle services, or you can upgrade the journey with one of our trusted tour partners who offer guided transfers, turning your trip into an experience in itself.

  • We had not been on a zip wire before this trip. EcoZip staff were very welcoming and very professional. We were well prepared for the zip wires and our guides did a great job making sure we were all set before each run. The walk back to the centre with some information about the local flora and fauna was a great addition. We would thoroughly recommend EcoZip.
