    Covid-19

CPF Red Level from 23rd January

EcoZip Update

From midnight on 23rd January NZ is moving back to the red settings of the COVID-19 Protection Framework.  While there are restrictions on gathering sizes this doesn’t affect EcoZip and our operations.  This means that even with this change we’re open and fully operational.  There are some rules which we’re required to follow but, essentially, it’s still ‘business as usual’, or at least COVID-19 usual!

COVID-19 Vaccination Passes

At the heart of our approach to every operational facet of our business is protecting the safety, health and well-being of our staff, our customers and our business partners.

The NZ Government has determined that tourism businesses, like EcoZip Adventures, are close contact businesses and, as a consequence, we are subject to vaccine mandate requirements; this means all our staff (and our contractors) are fully vaccinated.

Under the  COVID-19 Protection Framework close contact businesses, if they wish to operate, must implement a vaccination entry requirement. Accordingly, from 1st December 2021, we began requiring all our clients, aged 12-years or over, to be fully vaccinated and to provide a COVID-19 Vaccination Pass (‘CVP’) from My Vaccine Pass.   My Vaccine Pass is the official record of your COVID-19 vaccination status for use within New Zealand.

Please note, there are no exceptions to this rule and it is not within the remit of our staff to make or offer exemptions.

You can obtain a CVP easily. Anyone aged 12 and over who has had two COVID-19 vaccinations administered in New Zealand, or who has been given a medical exemption, can now request a My Vaccine Pass – simply visit https://mycovidrecord.health.nz to apply.

Requesting a pass is simple and, we’re assured by Ministry of Health, takes only a few minutes.  Your My Vaccine Pass will include your name, date of birth and a QR code. You can save this pass on a digital device, like your phone, or print a physical copy. Please note we won’t need to see proof of identity for persons under 16-years of age.

If you hold a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate or Pass from a country other than New Zealand we recommend contacting  covid-19overseasvaccinations@health.govt.nz for information and assistance.

Both when you make a new booking and subsequently complete our on-line check-in process you’ll be asked to confirm that you, and your party members aged 12 years or over, hold a valid My Vaccine Pass.  Participants 12 years and over who attend but who are unable to provide a My Vaccine Pass will not be permitted to take part and will be ineligible for a refund.

Masks & Other Processes

For the safety and well-being of our customers and suppliers our whole team have been double vaccinated.  With nearly 2-year’s experience of COVID-19 we’ve developed a robust, and tried and tested, set of operating procedures to keep our clients, and our staff, safe.   This includes enhanced cleaning protocols, effective contact tracing and, from time-to-time, mask use.  We’re committed to making your visit to EcoZip Adventures both highly enjoyable and very safe.

Under the CPF Red settings, masks are used for some parts of our tour, specifically:

  • We ask that you wear a mask when travelling in our vehicles and when inside one of our buildings; for example at check-in or when in our retail space
  • Mask use is mandatory on the zipline element of our tour but mask use is optional when enjoying the bush walk part of your tour.

Don’t worry if you forget a mask, we have supplies of disposable masks both in our vehicles and on-site.

COVID-19 Refunds and Cancellations

Our policy around refunds and cancellations caused by local, regional or national lockdowns is very straightforward.  In the event that you cannot zip due to a lockdown you’ll be offered

  1. A rebook to an alternative date, or
  2. A full refund

There’s no ‘small print’ and no ambiguity about the refund clause. If we can’t operate due to a lockdown and you don’t want to reschedule to another date we’ll refund in full; no if’s or but’s.  So you can book with confidence.

Finally…

Over the past 22-months we’ve all become pretty used to the ‘old’ level 1-4 system.  The new traffic light system is still evolving and we’re working closely with our trade associations, WorkSafe and others to ensure we’re following best practice.  Things are going to be dynamic for a while, as Government introduce new processes and regulations, sometimes at short notice.  If there’s anything about our COVID-19 planning you’d like to discuss please get in touch. We take our obligations very seriously and we’re proud to be a small part of the team of five-million who, together, are uniting to make New Zealand safer.

We look forward to welcoming you to beautiful Waiheke Island very soon.

  • We had not been on a zip wire before this trip. EcoZip staff were very welcoming and very professional. We were well prepared for the zip wires and our guides did a great job making sure we were all set before each run. The walk back to the centre with some information about the local flora and fauna was a great addition. We would thoroughly recommend EcoZip.
