WELCOME TO THE ECOZIP ADVENTURES WHANAU

EcoZip Adventures’s original location is on beautiful Waiheke Island and in December 2023 we opened a new site in the spectacular South Island town of Kaikōura; famed for its whales and marine tourism. We’re a certified climate positive, award-winning adventure and eco-tourism business, offering state-of-the-art dual flying-fox ziplines with a beautiful eco-immersive forest experience; but if you’re on our website you probably already know that!

We’re passionate about our amazing product; our team is awesome; and we offer a work environment quite like no other!

We know that riding ziplines is undeniably huge fun, but conservation is also at the heart of our business. We put a lot into looking after, and protecting, our precious piece of land and we were recently the proud recipients a Qualmark 100% Pure New Zealand Experience award – check out the pics of Richie McCaw handing over our award.

If you love the outdoors, are a nature lover, thrive on interacting with customers, and are looking for a bit of adventure in your workday, then a career with EcoZip Adventures might be the place for you. With Waiheke buzzing and our new Kaikōura site open, we’re looking to add both new and experienced professionals to our team, who’ll  help us deliver an experience that’s been described as ‘hands down, the single best thing I did in the whole of NZ‘.

Seasonal Zipline Guides

Casual, FT & PT – Waiheke & Kaikōura

EcoZip Adventures

If you’re in tertiary education and looking for the coolest summer role, we should talk!  And this is a job you can come back to, year after year, as your education progresses.

The Role

Since 2012 we’ve run a hugely successful summer guide programme.  Each year a cadre of new guides join us as they come home to Auckland for the summer holidays. We train them to become zipline guides, then they join the team, showing our clients (who come from all over the world) beautiful Waiheke Island  – from a very unique perspective. From November 2023, these roles will be available in Kaikōura too, so if North Canterbury is home, this could be for you!

What will you be doing?

You’ll be working closely with our permanent guide team, in fact you’ll quickly become an integral part of the team. You’ll be welcoming clients to our site, conducting check-in and gear-up, safety briefings and then leading them on their zipline and native forest walk adventure.  Plus there’s a chance to help out in our office, running reception and learning about our booking and customer service systems.

What We’re Looking For From You

Like our permanent roles, no experience of adventure tourism is necessary. What we need is a willingness to learn, an eye for detail and the ability to follow safety procedures to the letter. We really need you to be a ‘people person’ – that means you love interacting with guests, enjoy working as part of a team and have a great sense of humour (there’s a lot of laughter in most working days at EcoZip).

Technical Skill & Experience

No formal technical skills are necessary, however, you do need an excellent command of both written and spoken English for a summer guide role –  you’ll be the person doing a lot of the talking!  For new guides we provide comprehensive induction training that will give you the skills to safely and successfully guide our tours.  As this is a role where you could come back year after year, it’s a great way to gain commercial experience while building your professional skills & confidence.

We offer a great working environment, above average pay rates and other benefits designed to help you make the most of a summer working in the sun.  Roles are open for various durations between September ’23 and May ’24 and can dovetail with NZ tertiary education holidays.

For Waiheke-based roles we offer subsidised travel to the island for Auckland residents.  For Kaikōura-based roles we are able to assist with staff accommodation in a comfortable, modern staff house.

These roles are very popular and routinely oversubscribed so register your interest today with an email to recruitment@ecozip.co.nz

Senior Zipline Guides

Full Time – Waiheke & Kaikōura

Our senior zipline guides play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operation of our business.  Our senior zipline guides are the backbone of our business – not only do they run our daily tours, they provide the first-level leadership and management in our Waiheke, and new Kaikōura, teams.

The Role

Senior zipline guides are seasoned tourism professionals, who usually work their way up from entry-level guides within EcoZip, or join us as experienced guides from other zipline businesses.   Based in either Waiheke or Kaikōura, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our zipline tours.  In collaboration with our Safety Systems Manager, you’ll assist in training new ‘rookie’ guides, mentoring newly qualified guides and helping to both ensure all our team comply with our standard operating procedures. You’ll also have a hand in helping us develop our training programmes, inspection routines and operating procedures.

What We’re Looking For From You

As a senior ziplines guide you’ll have amassed significant practical, and documented, guiding experience; either with EcoZip or another recognised zipline or canopy tour business.

You’ll have a thorough knowledge of the operation of zipline or canopy tour experiences. You’ll have great interpersonal skills and will be an efficient and effective communicator.   As a vital link between our senior management and our zipline guide team, you’ll be a thoughtful leader, keen to help your less experienced colleagues succeed and become great zipline guides.

We’re looking for senior zipline guides who are ready to take their next step in leadership, helping us grow and develop our business with a laser-sharp focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Technical Skill & Experience

To join us in this role you must have at least 300 documented or verifiable hours experience as a zipline or canopy tour guide.  You will have held a full NZ driving licence for at least two years and will, ideally, hold a first aid qualification. If you hold ‘P’ endorsement this would be a significant advantage.

Because we pride ourselves on the high quality of the product and service we deliver, and which underpins all we do, we need senior zipline guides who are reliable, detail-focused and innovative.  We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our customers’ experience, and our business as a whole, so our senior zipline guide roles would suit individuals keen to take a practical hand in the management and development of our great little company.

Roles with EcoZip come with above average pay rates and all the benefits you’d expect from an award-winning company, including the chance to help us grow the company as we expand into Kaikōura in November 2023.

For Waiheke-based roles we offer subsidised travel to the island for Auckland residents.  For Kaikōura-based roles we are able to assist with staff accommodation in a comfortable, modern staff house.

To work with EcoZip, you must be a New Zealand resident or have the right to work in NZ; we welcome applications from Working Holiday Visa holders who have experience of tourism.  As a business committed to the health and safety of our staff, customers and contractors, we have a stringent drug and alcohol policy, which includes mandatory pre-employment testing and regular in-employment random testing.

  • We had not been on a zip wire before this trip. EcoZip staff were very welcoming and very professional.

We were well prepared for the zip wires and our guides did a great job making sure we were all set before each run. The walk back to the centre with some information about the local flora and fauna was a great addition. We would thoroughly recommend EcoZip.
