WELCOME TO THE ECOZIP WHANAU
EcoZip Adventures is located on beautiful Waiheke Island. We’re a certified climate positive, award-winning adventure and eco-tourism business, offering state-of-the-art dual flying-fox ziplines with a beautiful eco-immersive forest experience; but if you’re on our website you probably already know that!
We’re passionate about our amazing product; our team is awesome; and we offer a work environment quite like no other!
We know that riding ziplines is undeniably huge fun, but conservation is also at the heart of our business. We put a lot into looking after, and protecting, our precious piece of land and we were recently the proud recipients a Qualmark 100% Pure New Zealand Experience award – check out the pics of Richie McCaw handing over our award.
If you love the outdoors, are a nature lover, thrive on interacting with customers, and are looking for a bit of adventure in your workday, then a career with EcoZip Adventures might be the place for you. With the borders reopening, we’re looking to add both new and experienced professionals to our team, who’ll help us deliver an experience that’s been described as ‘hands down, the single best thing I did in the whole of NZ‘.

Senior Zipline Guide –
Experienced Tourism Pro
Full time
We’re looking for an experienced adventure tourism professional to join us, on a permanent basis, to help grow and develop our business.
The Role
Ideally with a background in ziplines (canopy tours), high ropes or adventure courses, you’ll be comfortable with working at heights, in a safety-focused environment. If ropes and ziplines isn’t your thing, but you’ve worked in the adventure sector, for example river or glacier guiding, kayaking or jet boating, bungy-jumping or anything else adventurous, we’re still really keen to hear from you.
What will you be doing?
You’ll be working closely with members of our technical team. So, in addition to guiding our day-to-day zipline tours, you’ll be training to conduct repairs, maintenance, and inspections around our site. You’ll also be contributing, along with the rest of our team, to the development of our operating procedures; both technical and customer service.
What We’re Looking For From You
This role would suit an experienced adventure tourism professional keen to join a small team and, in doing so, help be a driver of change and innovation as we work to maintain the high service and safety standard set since we opened in 2012. If you have a strong customer service ethic, are keen to develop your career by learning new skills, are a natural problem-solver, and are looking for the opportunity to influence the development of your workplace we’re keen to hear from you.
Technical Skill & Experience
As a business regulated under the Health and Safety at Work (Adventure Activities) Regulations we need people who are detail-focused and capable of following processes to the letter. Experience of working within the Adventure Activities Regulations, or similar health & safety systems, would be a distinct advantage.
This role offers great opportunities to grow with the business. We’re currently engaged in the development of a new South Island location which, once operational, will open new management opportunities; and we prefer to promote from within. You can also improve and increase your vocational skills in this role, with formal training, up to ACCT Zipline Inspector standard (which is delivered and assessed in the United States), so both domestic and international travel is part of this role.
Zipline Guide –
Entry level positions
Part- & Full Time
Whether you’re an experienced adventure tourism professional, or looking to get into the sector, we’re recruiting and training the guides that will help us be ready for the reopening of the border.
The Role
Our zipline guides lead our guests on our adventure and eco-tourism activity. From guest arrival to departure, they’re responsible for ensuring our clients are safe, secure, and delighted with their experience. The guide role is pivotal in the success of our business as you’ll be the person with the greatest amount of interaction with our guests, so your personality really can shine through.
What will you be doing?
The zipline guide role is really varied. On a daily basis you’ll be getting our site ready to welcome guests, performing daily safety inspections. As our guests arrive, you’ll welcome them and then take them through the check-in and gear up processes. You’ll then be leading them on our zipline tours, making sure they’re safe, and explaining how we, as a business, have embraced the idea of commercial conservation; using our business to restore and protect the beautiful native forest of which we’re the proud kaitiaki (guardians).
What We’re Looking For From You
No experience of adventure tourism is necessary. What we need is a willingness to learn, an eye for detail and the ability to follow safety procedures to the letter. What we really need you to be is a ‘people person’ – that means you love interacting with guests, are happy to work independently and are unafraid to lead from the front – often literally!
Technical Skill & Experience
No formal technical skills are necessary, however, you do need an excellent command of both written and spoken English for these roles, as you’ll be the person doing a lot of the talking! A full drivers license would be useful (and could add to your skills if we put you through passenger endorsement training), but it’s not essential.
For new guides we provide comprehensive induction training that will give you the skills to safely and successfully guide our tours. These will build your skills, competence, and confidence. We’re a small, fun, hard-working team. We value commitment and hard work, and we reward these with above average pay, the chance to progress in the business and a great working environment.
